OLD MELBOURNE GAOL INVESTIGATION

GhostSeekers Australia is the official Paranormal Investigation team used by the National Trust to cover investigations both at the Old Melbourne Gaol and other National Trust properties. We have exclusive access to these properties, which is the result of a strong ongoing professional and mutually beneficial relationship with the members of the National Trust.

We are committed to providing the public with a unique experience, the chance to partake in a professional Paranormal investigation, using the team’s own equipment, in the Old Melbourne Gaol, one of Australia’s most historic locations.

Admission cost includes payment to the National Trust for use of venue (including Supper, which is supplied) and Security. GhostSeekers are provided with reimbursement for replacing and renewing equipment only. Team members do not receive individual payment of any kind. They contribute their time, experience and equipment as volunteers, free of charge, at all times.

Participants are informed regarding safety procedures, and are instructed in the use of all GhostSeekers electronic equipment.  Vigils are undertaken in various locations throughout the Gaol (each session approx 45 minutes in duration), using the equipment provided.  Participants are encouraged to also bring along any photographic and sound recording equipment of their own which they may wish to use.  Participants may also wish to bring along anything they feel might make their time at the Gaol more comfortable, for example a comfortable chair or sleeping bag on which to sit.  It is also advised that warm clothing be brought along, even when conditions are mild.  Soft soled shoes (e.g. joggers) should be worn on the night.  This is to ensure safety and comfort when moving around the Gaol, as well as limiting any unnecessary noise which could interfere with recording equipment.  Participants should also refrain from wearing strong perfume or any other form of fragrance, so as not to hinder sensory awareness of themselves, or of others.

Participants attending investigations by GhostSeekers Australia do so under the agreement of the disclaimer signed prior to commencement of investigation, which is designed to protect the health and safety of the individuals concerned. Participants should be aware that failure to sign disclaimer will result in inability to partake in the investigation. In this case, all monies will be refunded. At no time are participants permitted to move around the Gaol freely whilst in total darkness, as several areas of the Gaol (e.g. steep steel and stone staircases), are considered a potentially hazardous environment whilst unlit. GhostSeekers Australia strongly recommends those who have a heart condition, are pregnant, or are subject to nervous disposition, do not attend an investigation.

Every effort is made by GhostSeekers Australia to ensure a safe and interesting experience for all attending.

Should you wish to attend the Old Melbourne Gaol investigation, and have further questions, please feel free to contact us via this website.

Investigations at the Old Melbourne Gaol are specifically designed for members of the public who have never experienced being part of a paranormal investigation, and although more than welcome to attend, ghost hunters participating in other teams should be aware of the investigation format.
