GhostSeekers Australia presents a Unique
Firsthand Experience into the World of
Paranormal Investigations.
Old Melbourne Gaol Investigations
(Conducted Monthly)
Are you brave enough to explore and
investigate the haunted confines of
Melbourne’s Oldest Gaol?
For the last 5 years members of the
GhostSeekers Team have been involved in
conducting public paranormal investigations
at the Old Melbourne Gaol.
The Old Melbourne Gaol was built over three
stages between 1841 and 1862. It consisted
of three main cell blocks: the first cell
block was constructed of sandstone on the
site of the current City Watch House, the
second cell block (male and surviving block)
was constructed of bluestone and the third
female cell block was also constructed of
bluestone. Unfortunately the female block
was torn down after the closure of the Gaol
in 1929 to make way for the building of the
current RMIT campus.
The Gaol was briefly re-opened during the
Second World War to house military
prisoners. Many American and Australian
military personnel were held in the Gaol for
a variety of offences, such as theft, rape,
and unauthorised leave. It also housed a
German Navel Warship Captain.
There were 133 hangings within the Gaol
Complex, the most famous being that of Bush
Ranger Edward “Ned” Kelly on 11 November
1880.
Our Investigations allow members of the
public to conduct their own paranormal
investigation with the assistance of the
latest ghost hunting equipment in the many
haunted cells of the Old Melbourne Gaol.
Any results obtained during an investigation
are professionally analysed to explore
whether the result can be rationalised
through natural explanations or whether it
is truly an unexplained/ paranormal result.

City Watch House Investigations
(Conducted Quarterly)
The City Watch House has been privately
investigated by the GhostSeekers Team for
the last two and half years, and has
provided our team with some amazing
unexplained results. Now GhostSeekers and
the Old Melbourne Gaol proudly present the
City Watch House for public paranormal
investigations on a quarterly basis.
The first sandstone cell block at the Old
Melbourne Gaol was built on the site of the
current City Watch House between 1841 and
1845. The City Watch House was then
constructed by GBH Austin of the public
works between 1907 and 1908.
The City Watch House has been frequented by
many of Melbourne’s infamous criminals such
as Squizzy Taylor (1920s Gangster), Ronald
Ryan (last man hanged in Melbourne), Julian
Knight (Hoddle Street massacre), Edward
Leonski (1942 Brownout Strangler), Mark
“Chopper” Reid and many of the 1980s and
1990s “Underbelly” characters to name a few,
until it was finally closed in 1994.
This investigation allows members of the
public to conduct their own paranormal
investigation with the assistance of the
latest ghost hunting equipment in the
following confines of the City Watch House:,
sexual offenders’ cell and exercise yard,
interview cells, wet (drunks’) cells, female
cells and exercise yard and the famous
padded cell used for very violent and
mentally disturbed prisoners. The
investigation also includes a tour of one
courtroom within the old Magistrate’s Court
complex.
